Darrell Issa for Congress

Case Study

Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter's resignation in January 2020 left California's San Diego-based 50th District open for the first time in 12 years.

One of the few Republican-held seats in Southern California to have not been flipped in 2018's blue wave, Hunter's slim margin made the 50th District a prime target for Democrats.

Former Congressman Darrell Issa, who had represented the neighboring 49th District for 18 years, entered the open primary.

Our ads illustrating Issa's commitment to border security and support from President Trump and San Diego Mayor Kevin Falconer helped him defeat liberal Republican Carl DeMaio in the primary and advance to face Democrat Ammar Campa-Najjar in the general.

Showcasing Issa's military service, congressional experience and business success, our ads helped secure Issa an 8-point victory.
